Jackson Hole, Wy -Sled Dog Ride-

Having your birthday fall in the dead of winter in Colorado is not ideal. My whole life I have had to deal with the dissapointing fact that I will never have a birthday pool party.

It was depressing as a 10 year old and it's still depressing now.

For this year we decided to turn it all around and make the most of my wintery birth month so we packed up the 'rover, and the offspring, for a roadtrip adventure to Jackson Hole Wyoming for a bit of snowy fun. In yo' face pool party!!

In keeping with making my dreams come true (as is his way) Brian helped me cross off a bucket list experience by booking a little a sled dog ride excursion through Grand Teton National Park.

Yes, it is as memorable as it sounds.

We also got to be a part of the beginning of the International Pedigree Stage Stop sled dog race in Jackson Hole, second in popularity only to the Alaskan Ididarod.

We decided to bring Harper, our nearly 2 year old with us. The vedict is still out as to whether that was an overall good idea. I mean, she did make for some shockingly adorable photos.

She LOVED the "fuffs" (Harper speak for "woof" meaning dog) and the sled ride, but she did not however love the 8 hour drive... and neither did I.

Overall it was just wonderful. Good trip, good times. happy birthday me.

Warming up after the ride!

Happy New Year Everyone!

2013 is shaping up to be one of my best years yet! I know, it is only January 15th but the future holds so many beautiful new things.

Quick life update-

*Harper is nearly 2 (WHAAAAT?)

*We have moved to Ft. Collins CO (kind of old news)

*We purchased some property and are building an energy efficient/sustainable home (both with help AND by our own two hands) We plan to break ground in a month!!

*My sweet Golden retriever of 12 years passed away. (*sniff*)

*I tried being a vegetarian for 3 months and learned that it is just silly. sillyness I tell you. no.

*Celebrated 6 years of marriage to my love in New Orleans.

*We are diving into the commuity of Ft. Collins and are feeling deeply enriched by new friendships and new passions.

*Business is GREAT! I know, I know I havent been blogging all this greatness... but the above happenings are taking over my life, and honestly I am loving it. I love that sitting in front of a computer all day and bragging about myself isn't my top priority anymore.  :D

(I mean, yes it will still happen from time to time... sorry)

A peek at what is, and what's to come -

I thought I'd share this joyful summer wedding I photographed in Nashville Tennessee. Hopefully it will warm your bones on this cold January day.

I am so thankful when my job takes me outside of Colorado. New places are refreshing creatively. I find that if I am feeling burnt out, the best remedy is a change of scenery.

Last year we traveled to New Orleans, Nashville and The Outer Banks NC, and so far for this year we are booked for Austin TX and a few more potential locations (fingers crossed)

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Nashville. It is densely green and rolling hills are scattered with civil war era farmhouses. The area is dripping with history, and I am a nerd when it comes to museums. I'd rather tour the museums than enjoy the nightlife, so unfortuanly we didn't take advantage of being a part of discovering the next Johnny Cash at the cafe 'round the corner.

I loved the feel of this wedding, elegant, yet raw.

Again, I must give a shout out to having ridiculously good looking clients. Who needs to plan conceptualized styled shoots when you have a real bride and groom who look like Brittany and John?

Enjoy.
