immersed in play...

just that.

Kids are awesome. I just love watching Harper explore new sides of her imagination.

*sigh* What happens to us adults? At what age do we loose this effortless ability to entertain ourselves with nothing but an imagination?

I can clearly remember spending my childhood days running on all fours immersed in some other world where I was a whimsical flying horse, or building impressively massive lego villages and castles with my brothers complete with medieval battles and little lego damsels in distress.

Oh to be back there again. I would go if I could, despite the downright inappropriateness of an adult galloping on all fours across their lawn, or dedecating endless hours to lego war games. But sadly, I don't think I could even muster up a spark of a thought of a whimsical gallop or a distressed lego princess. And that is quite sad.

Are adults incapable of this? Have we forgotten how to play? Or do we just loose the ability altogether with time?

I guess I will just adoringly watch as my daughter does what I can no longer do...

and hopefully she will not forget. What kind of world would that be?
