Camping and The Avett Brothers
Brian and I decided to get a way for a couple days and retreat to the glorious Rockies. We have these majesitc beauties in our backyard and only call upon them once a year for some relaxation... that will NOT happen next year I tell you!
It just so happened that one of our FAVORITE bands The Avett Brothers were playing a free concert in Steamboat Springs where it just so happened my brother was working for a week on a job... so of course we just so happened to go for a visit. :)
After the concert, we set up camp just outside of Rabbit Ears pass... I have NEVER seen so many stars in my life. It was almost supernatural.
The next morning we drove to Grand Lake and Rocky Mtn. National park. It felt so refreshing to return to my old stomping grounds after 8 years!
When I was younger, my family used to set up camp many summers in Grand Lake. I will never forget the countless times we drove over Trail Ridge (highest paved road in US) and my mother STILL freaked out and thought we were going to plummet off the side of the mountain... every time! (love you mom :)... but its true and you know it)
I felt I was sharing a part of myself and my life with Brian for the first time.

I wish I had a tripod so I could have taken the next two photos correctly but it still shows just how phenomenal the stars were that night.

Wow Hannah those stars are amazing. I can only imagine how beautiful they were in the moment. And the 'top of the world' pictures were really great too. The pictures are so exhilarating! Thanks for the tip on the RAW converter; it really helped. I had fun this weekend at Ashley's wedding and I hope I get to see you photograph in action again.
cheers
Paige
Those last two pictures. Epic. That's the word that describes them.
I showed Justin this blog specifically because I knew he would love the photos of the starry night sky. Needless to say, he was astounded...you're good Mrs. Brooks. Very good. :)
P.S. Your brother Sam kinda looks like he could be European...and in a really sweet band or something. (He just doesn't look "average" - but, I guess, if he's anything like you, he most likely is nowhere NEAR average!)
